Vale to restart nickel mining at Ona Puma
Brazil’s Vale tells Kallanish that the company has obtained a suspension of the court ruling which halted mining activities at its Onça Puma operation, State of Pará (see Kallanish 19 August). The BRL3 million ($785,000) fine, which was expected to be payed to the Xikrin do Catete Indigenous People’s Associations, has also been suspended.
