USS takes down Great Lakes BF for maintenance
US Steel is taking down one of its three blast furnaces at its Great Lakes facility in Ecorse and River Rouge, Michigan, for scheduled maintenance, the company confirms.
A spokeswoman says the routine maintenance is underway. She adds the company has not publicly commented on the expected length of the outage.
The Great Lakes facility as a whole can produce 3.8 million st/year of raw steel, Kallanish understands.
