US steel reports improving Q3 performance despite net loss
US Steel reported a quarter-on-quarter return to net loss in Q3 14 but this did not prevent ceo Mario Longhi from expressing satisfaction with his company’s operating performance in the period. The steelmaker saw improved segmental operating performances and failed to make a healthy profit from operations only because of non-segment pre-tax non-cash charges, Kallanish learns.
