US steel imports fall for fourth consecutive month
US steel imports declined from April to May 2015, but remain ahead of 2014 levels, according to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reviewed by Kallanish.
According to a preliminary count, imports totalled 3,374,000 tons in May, down -3.6% from April. Finished steel imports of 2,744,000 tons were -7.2% lower month-on-month. The estimated finished steel import market share was 29% in May.
