Steel shipments from US mills fall away in January
U.S. hot rolled sheet shipments fell heavily month-on-month in January as the downturn in oil and gas demand appeared to have begun to affect supply into the energy market.
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) tells Kallanish that for the month of January 2015, US mills shipped 7,762,742 net tons of steel.
This is a -2.7% decrease on the 7,978,310nt shipped in December 2014, and a -1.7% decrease on the 7,895,293nt shipped in January 2014.
