US import permit applications rise, steel imports market share 32%, in January
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reports that steel import permit applications into the US for the month of January total 4,331,000 net tons (nt). This was a 20% increase from the 3,599,000 permit tons recorded in December and a 20% increase from the December preliminary imports total of 3,620,000nt, Kallanish notes.
