US finished steel imports surge in 2014
Based on preliminary Census Bureau data, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reports that full year 2014 U.S total and finished steel imports were 44,320,000 net tons and 33,733,000nt respectively. These volumes were up 38% and 36% respectively against those for 2013. Finished steel import market share was an estimated 30% in December and is estimated at 28% for 2014.
