US Steel to permanently close Fairfield BF and steelmaking operations
US Steel has announced its intention to permanently close its blast furnace and steelmaking operations in Fairfield, Alabama. By 17 November, the company will idle the BF, hot strip mill, pickling line, cold strip mill, annealing facility, and stretch and temper line.
