US Steel proposes more coke oven closures
US Steel is progressing with plans to close more coke units and a tinplate mill in Gary, Indiana, USA [see associated article]. The coke and tinplate closures will affect some 850 workers, as part of the corporation’s Carnegie Way restructuring project to restore profit and return to consistent profitability.
