US Steel plans to close Granite City coking plant, union says
US Steel is to shut down the coke batteries at its plant in Granite City, Illinois, Kallanish learns from the local branch of the United Steelworkers union (USW). The closure, announced on 19 January, was the result of a decision based on a number of factors including a downturn in the steel market, the USW says.
