US Steel blames tinplate mill closure on growing imports into US
US Steel is blaming growing imports into the US for its decision to close its East Chicago tinplate mill, which is part of its Gary Works in Indiana. Cheaper imported tin-mill products have “dramatically affected our business,” says a US official. This closure will hit 370 workers (see associated article).
