Turkish iron ore imports rise 5% in 2014, Iran and UAE among suppliers
Turkish imports of iron ore surged 20% year-on-year in December to 1.12 million tonnes as integrated mills took advantage of their lower production cost versus scrap-based steelmakers. The average price of iron ore was $110/tonne compared to $155/t in the year-earlier month, Kallanish notes from the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
