Turkish billet exporters hiked Latin America shipments in 2014 as MENA demand crashed
Turkey, traditionally a major billet supplier to the Middle East, saw its exports of the semi-product plummet -64% year-on-year in 2014 to 567,052 tonnes. Diminished demand from major markets Saudi Arabia and Iran saw exporters shift their focus to Latin America, Kallanish notes from the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
