Steel mill output rises year-on-year in US in June
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reports that for the month of June 2014, U.S. steel mills shipped 8,291,823 net tons, a 1.3% decrease from the 8,398,976nt shipped in May 2014 but 6.2% up compared to the 7,806,319nt shipped in June 2013.
Shipments year-to-date to the end of June in 2014 were 48,777,146nt, an increase of 2.9% year-on-year compared with the 47,401,474nt moved out in the first six months of 2013, AISI says.
