Steel imports into U.S. surge again year-on-year in July
The American Iron and Steel Association (AISI) reports that the U.S. imported 3,833,000 net tons of steel in July including 3,058,000nt of finished steel. This represents increases of 6.1% and 11.9% respectively on June’s import figures.
Year-to-date imports are considerably higher from those in 2013 with total imports being 37% up at 24,940,000nt and finished steel imports at 18,635,000nt, an increase of 30% y-on-y.
