Steel body plays down South Africa August PMI improvement
The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (Seifsa) has played down the 3.4% on-year improvement in South Africa’s Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) in August. This is because August 2014 was only one month after strikes had ended. Compared to August 2013, “…a month without distortion”, the PMI was down -10%, Seifsa says in a report monitored by Kallanish.
