South African imports surge 61% in May
South African imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products in May surged 61% on-year and 7% versus the previous month to 108,188 tonnes, according to the South African Iron & Steel Institute. In January-May these imports (which exclude semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) surged 69.4% to 666,317t.
