Shanxi hopes to double Taigang capacity to 20m t/y
Northern China’s Shanxi province has published a plan for the steel industry in 2015 which lists a number of projects to upgrade local capacity and improve environmental protection. The province also intends to consolidate local steelmakers and hopes state-owned Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Taigang) can almost double its steelmaking capacity to around 20 million tonnes/year, Kallanish notes.
