Shangang to start building Rizhao BFs in September
Eastern China’s Shandong Iron and Steel (Shangang) says it is ready to begin construction work on the blast furnaces of its 8.5 million tonnes/year greenfield steelworks in Rizhao in mid-September. The state-owned company plans to commission the first phase of the plant in 2017, competing directly with Rizhao’s existing privately-owned steelmaker Rizhao Iron and Steel (Rigang), Kallanish notes.
