Shandong steelmakers stopped on safety fears
Inspections last week by China’s State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS) have resulted in the closure of some steelmaking capacity in eastern Shandong province, local media reports. The direct impact of the shutdown is likely small but the inspections form part of a trend of greater regulation which is severely impacting China’s steel industry, Kallanish notes.
