Shaky US business gives Klckner a rocky start into the year
The first quarter of 2015 is turning out tougher than anticipated for Klöckner & Co. With its many assets in the USA, the distributor was hit by the turmoil in domestic steel prices, which saw a recent slump in the price of HRC from around $700/tonne to $500/t. “And the price still continues to drift, probably by another $30, bottoming out at around $450/t,” Kallanish hears from Klöckner’s ceo, Gisbert Rühl.
