Salzgitter starts up new coal injection plant
Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH (SZFG), the strip-making unit of Salzgitter group, has begun operation of a coal-injection system for its A and B blast furnaces. The plant cost €78 million ($87.6m) to build but is already reducing pig iron production costs, Kallanish hears from the company.
