Railway completion, land acquisition seen as obstacles to easing India coal shortages
State-owned Coal India Limited (CIL) says the need to complete three critical railway lines, make prompt land acquisitions and still gain environmental clearances are proving to be key obstacles in its bid to double annual production to one billion tonnes by 2019/20. The expansion would ease coal shortages currently affecting steel mills, it notes.
