Putin oversees start of Chinese steel pipeline construction
Russian president Vladimir Putin and Chinese vice-premier Zhang Gaoli oversaw the start of construction of the China-Russia East Route natural gas pipeline on 1 September in Yakutsk. The pipeline is expected to consume around 1 million tonnes of pipes in China, and could consume almost as much in Russia, over the next four years, analysts say.
