Pakistan producers call for 40% billet, bar import duty after China, CIS-origin price fall
Pakistani steelmakers have urged the government to hike steel import duties to 40%, arguing that January’s increase of billet, bar and wire rod tariffs to 15% is insufficient. This is because a 5% scrap import tariff has subsequently been introduced, while China and CIS-origin billet prices have fallen further, Kallanish learns.
