Pakistan CR mill sees weak rupee hitting margins, hopes for import duty hike
Pakistani cold roller Aisha Steel Mills (ASML) says its margins will be impacted in the coming months as the rupee has depreciated against the dollar, thus increasing the import cost of hot rolled coil feedstock.
The firm imports its entire HRC requirement due to the old technology at local producer Pakistan Steel Mills, which renders the latter's steel “inferior [in] quality”, ASML claims.
