Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa to get new Danieli cooling quenching system
Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa will become the first Steckel mill to have a Danieli Exstream cooling direct quenching system when it is installed at the end of March 2016.
The one-of-a-kind system will perform in-line quenching of strips and plates in combination with an existing laminar cooling system. The thickness range to be treated by the system will be 4.76mm to 63.6mm (0.187in to 2.5in) with width ranges of 1,220mm to 2,438mm (48in to 96in).
