Newly state-owned Moldova mill relaunches billet production
Moldova steel works (MMZ) relaunched steelmaking and billet production on 10 March for the first time since being acquired by the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic on 30 January. The company tells Kallanish that it plans to produce up to 38,000 tonnes of steel before the end of March. This compares with just 8,000t in January, when it was not under state control (see Kallanish 24 February).
