NSSMC Nagoya hit by explosion in coking plant
An explosion took place at the coking plant at Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corp’s (NSSMC) Nagoya works in Tokai city in the morning of 3 September, injuring twelve people, according to Japan’s national broadcaster NHK. While it was not clear what impact there would be on production, the plant has had a troubled year with previous incidents reducing steel output, Kallanish notes.
