Midrex forecasts 200m t/y DRI output by 2030
US plantmaker, Midrex Technologies forecasts worldwide DRI production will reach 200 million ton/year by around the year 2030. It cites the development of shale gas, new understanding of the technology, and the need for greener steelmaking as among the “factors influencing this growth, both short and long term.” In particular, China’s need for cleaner steel should herald the first Chinese DRI plants, it predicts.
