Metinvest pulls workers out from Yenakiieve as fighting intensifies
Fighting in Yenakiieve has caused Ukrainian steelmaker Metinvest to close down core production at Yenakiieve Steel. Most of the plant’s workers were sent home on 13 August: “Only essential employees are at the plant shutting down equipment at the blast furnace (BF) and basic oxygen furnace (BOF) operations, among others,” Metinvest tells Kallanish.
