MIIT plan adds pressure on small, polluting mills
Several policies in the latest strategic plan for China’s steel industry appear designed to increase pressure on small polluting steelmakers, according to reports of a draft from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). If these steelmakers exit the market, then MIIT may have a chance of meeting its goals of boosting capacity utilisation and consolidating the industry, Kallanish notes.
