Low per capita consumption shows 'huge' India steel industry potential
India’s per capita steel consumption of 60kg – against the world average of 216kg – indicates “huge” potential for the country’s steel industry, according to Indian steel and mines minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
Growth in Indian crude steel production was 8% on-year in the fiscal year through March, while in January-May India managed to overtake the US as third-largest steelmaker, Tomar says in a report seen by Kallanish. …
