Large Q4 variations, as Ukraine crisis ramps up W EU plate price
The conflict in eastern Ukraine is providing strong support to Europe’s platemakers, who have succeeded in raising fourth quarter prices, market sources tell Kallanish. While EU mills are struggling to achieve meaningful Q4 price increases for coil – which appears to be largely unaffected by Ukrainie’s mill stoppages – this is not the case for heavy plate, says one trader.
