Kungang becomes latest to focus on non-steel business
Southern China’s Kunming Iron and Steel (Kungang) saw revenues from non-steel businesses overtake those from its core steelmaking operations in 2014 and they were also more profitable, according to local media. The company was sly about providing an exact figure for its total losses but it said last year it was losing Yuan 200/tonne ($32.04/t) of steel, Kallanish notes.
