Jiangsu releases paltry capacity reduction targets

The eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu says it plans to eliminate just 1.1 million tonnes/year of iron making and 1.5m t/y of steelmaking capacity in 2015. The province produced over 100 million tonnes of steel in 2014 and has more than 105m t/y of capacity just on China’s official white list, Kallanish notes.
