Jiangsu hikes energy prices for polluting mill
China’s eastern Jiangsu province has reportedly increased electricity costs for an unnamed steelmaker which has not met national environmental standards, local media report. If the move is a sign of things to come then China’s smaller inefficient steelmakers will be in serious trouble. The overall effect of the measure however remains uncertain considering the scale of approved capacity in the province, Kallanish notes.
