Japan expects steel demand downturn, inventory peak

The latest quarterly steel outlook from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) suggests steel demand will fall over October-December 2014. The World Steel Association (worldsteel) meanwhile said in its latest outlook that 2014 apparent demand would be up 2.3% to 66.8 million tonnes, before falling 1.5% in 2015.
