Japan continues WTO complaint against Chinese pipe duties
Japan has filed an appeal to a dispute panel at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) concerning Chinese duties on imports of Japanese nickel alloy and stainless steel seamless pipes. Chinese domestic seamless pipe makers are pushing for duties on imports to Japan to grow their small share of this high-end, and profitable, niche. This makes a change, as China is more often on the painful end of trade protection, Kallanish notes.
