Iron ore slides while Chinese steel holds
Chinese steel futures prices managed to gain marginally on Wednesday despite a decline in sentiment and prices in the iron ore market. While high exports and declining inventories pointed to some stabilisation for the steel market, continued oversupply, the reluctance of Chinese high-cost capacity to exit the market and weak inflation weighed on iron ore, Kallanish notes.
