Iron ore prices rebound strongly at year end
Iron ore prices have seen a strong rebound over the Christmas lull and Chinese steel futures prices have also responded positively. The increase came as some buyers restocked and was despite of a weak steel market and gloomy outlook for the coming months, Kallanish notes.
The Kallanish index for 62% Fe Australian fines hit $71.73/dry metric tonne cfr Qingdao on 30 December, up from $69.04/dmt the previous day and from a low of $66.59/dmt on 23 December.
