Indian producer mulls iron ore imports to offset potential domestic shortage
Indian steelmaker Kalyani Steels could resort to importing its iron ore requirement if mine closures lead to a shortage of the raw material, Kallanish notes. The firm wishes to increase its current capacity utilisation of 70-75% once competitively-priced iron ore becomes available, managing director RK Goyal told CNBC-TV18 in an interview last week.
