Indian coal production rises, ministry appoints new secretary

Indian coking coal production surged 26.6% on-year to 4.70 million tonnes in October, against 3.71mt produced a year earlier. Output in April-October grew 25.64% to 30.21mt against 24.04mt a year earlier, Kallanish notes. Bharat Coking Coal (BCCL) was the largest coking coal producer last month, producing 2.72mt during the period. Other producers included CCL (1.42mt), SECL (0.02mt) and WCL (0.01mt).
