Handan progresses with flats upgrades
Northern China’s Handan Iron and Steel, part of Hebei Iron and Steel (Hegang), has completed construction of a new 300,000 tonnes/year continuous annealing line. The move is part of a wider upgrade programme to improve the quality of the group’s flats output in order to boost profitability in the face of a collapsing northern Chinese construction steel market, Kallanish notes.
