Global crude steel production flattens as China output dips year-on-year in October
The World Steel Association (worldsteel) says that global crude steel output was the same year-on-year in October at 137 million tonnes. Production of crude steel during the first ten months of 2014 however increased by 2.0% y-on-y to reach 1368mt.
China produced 67.5mt, or just less than 50% of the world total, and slightly down by -0.3% from October 2013. Year-to-date production in 2014 at 686mt was 2.1% up on the same period in 2013.
