Global crude steel output dips marginally in September
The World Steel Association (Worldsteel) says that global crude steel output fell marginally year-on-year in September by 0.1% to 134 million tonnes. Production of crude steel during the first nine months of 2014 increased by 2.1% y-on-y to reach 1203mt.
China produced 67.5mt, or just over 50% of the world total, and the same output as in September 2013. Year-to-date production in 2014 at 618mt was 2.3% up on the same period in 2013.
