Global crude steel output declines further in May
The negative growth trend continued in global crude steel output, which registered a -2.1% year-on-year decline in May to 139 million tonnes, Kallanish learns from the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
Despite a slight uptick in February, global crude steel output has decreased every month since January. In April, the amount of crude steel produced by the 65 countries reporting to worldsteel fell -1.7% on-year to 135mt.
