German tinplate recycling rate recovers to 93.7%

In 2013, Germany recycled 93.7% of its used tinplate, according to the latest study by the Gesellschaft für Verpackungsmarktforschung (GVM). Rates have stabilised at around 93%, with 2013 marking the eighth year in a row when rates have been over 90%, adds GVM. At 499,300 tonnes, total tinplate consumption in Germany last year has dipped, compared to 503,000t in 2012, but is an increase on 492,300t in 2011. Of last year’s total, sales packaging…
