French producers are pushing up rebar extras by €20/tonne ($22/t) for September following the latest German rebar extras increases, industry sources tell Kallanish.

The increase has not been passed on downstream yet. September rebar prices will rely on the commercial strategy of the larger players and their level of stocks.

As reported, in August the performance of the French construction industry was stable compared to the previous months but remained on low levels (see Kallanish 31 August). Demand however, is slightly picking up in the country after a very slow month of August.

The increased prices are expected to hold for the next two weeks at least. With the current extras increases, rebar prices in France are in the range €420-430/t ex works, sources say.
