Italian merchant bar prices slide in June, French prices stabilise
June quotations for Italian merchant bar have lost increases gained in May and have fallen by €15/tonne ($16.8/t), Kallanish hears from market sources. Italian merchant bar prices are still slightly higher than those of French and German suppliers but the gap is narrowing. Major producer Beltrame managed to avert price decreases in May but domestic low demand and a sluggish market have made early June difficult, sources say.
